G.I.N.A.S.F.S. Lyrics
I've loved everything about you that hurt
So let me see your moves, let me see your moves
Lips pressed close to mine
True blue
But the prince of any failing empire knows that
Everybody wants, everybody wants
To drive on through the night if it's a
Drive back home
[Pre-Chorus]
Things aren't the same anymore, some nights, they get so bad
You almost pick up the phone
[Chorus]
Trade baby blues for wide eyed browns
I sleep with your old shirts and walk through this house in your shoes
You know, it's strange
It's a strange way of saying that I know I'm supposed to love you
I'm supposed to love you
[Verse 2]
I've already given up on myself twice
Third time is the charm, third time is the charm
Threw caution to the wind, but I've got a
Lousy arm
And I've traced your shadows on the wall, now I kiss them
Whenever I'm down, whenever I'm down
Figured on not figuring
Myself out
Things aren't the same anymore, some nights, they get so bad
I almost pick up the phone
[Chorus]
Trade baby blues for wide eyed browns
I sleep with your old shirts and walk through this house in your shoes
You know, it's strange
It's a strange way of saying that I know I'm supposed to love you
I'm supposed to love you
[Bridge]
Born under a bad sign, you saved my life
That night on the roof of your hotel
"Cross my heart and hope to die
Splintered from the headboard in my eye"
Photo-proofed kisses I remembered so well
[Chorus]
Trade baby blues for wide eyed browns
I sleep with your old shirts and walk through this house in your shoes
You know, it's strange
It's a strange way of saying that I know I'm supposed to love you
I'm supposed to love you
[Outro]
Now press repeat
About
“G.I.N.A.S.F.S.” is a bonus track from Fall Out Boy’s third album Infinity On High (2007). The title is an acronym for “Gay Is Not A Synonym For Shitty”. A common joke in the fanbase around the time of it’s release was that the title stood for “Gabe Is Not A Synonym for Sisky,” referring to Gabe Saporta, frontman of Cobra Starship, and Adam Siska, bassist for The Academy Is…, who were both close friends with and labelmates of Fall Out Boy.
At Leeds Festival in 2013, Pete Wentz told Rock Sound:
I think it was like a prevailing trend at the time […] It was just so prevalent, like, “Oh, that’s gay, that’s gay”, you know? To me it was more so… it was just that people weren’t looking any more in-depth than they could have, you know? Like, you could’ve come up with a better synonym than that.
This track was a bonus on the UK, Australia, and New Zealand releases of the album.
