Kaputt Album Cover Lyrics
About
The photo on the cover of Destroyer’s 2011 album Kaputt was taken by Ted Bois. It features Dan Bejar seated on the stone railing at the highest point of Queen Elizabeth Park in Vancouver, British Columbia. The perspective is facing north towards the mountains that dwarf the city.
This excellent interview with Ted Bois provides further insight into the photo, as well as the “Bay of Pigs” 12" sleeve:
The above photo was taken at Hycroft House in Vancouver during the same session as the much-used promo photos of Bejar with the banana peel, lion statue, ivy-covered pillars, etc.:
The interview also discusses the “Archer on the Beach” 12" sleeve:
The front image is at the fountain atop QE Park, steps from where the Kaputt cover photo was taken. The back sleeve image was taken under the nearby Cambie bridge, on the south side of False Creek.
