End Lyrics
Darker times
They're telling boulder-heavy lies
Looks like all we've got is each other
The truth is obsolete
Remember when all I had was my mother
She didn't compromise
She could recognize
Voodoo
Our daughters and our sons
Are just candles in the sun
Voodoo
Don't let him see divide, hmm
Don't you let her see divide
Voodoo
[Chorus]
She's got the whole wide world in her juicy fruit
He's got the whole wide world in his pants
He wrapped the whole wide world in a wedding band
Then put the whole wide world on her hands
She's got the whole wide world in her hands
He's got the whole wide world in his hands, in his hands
[Outro]
There's somethin' about you
I can't believe I'm even talking to you, tellin' you this right now
You're special
I wish you could see what I see
*kiss*
About
“End” serves as the closer to Frank Ocean’s debut studio album channel ORANGE on streaming services; the CD version of the album includes the hidden track “Golden Girl,” featuring Tyler, The Creator, beginning at the 3:44 minute mark of the song.
“End” samples a scene from the 2006 film ATL, in which the main characters, Rashad (T.I.) & New New (Lauren London), are exchanging conversation in a car late at night, with the ambient sounds of pouring rain & car chimes in the background. Ocean layers this with his song unreleased song “Voodoo,” previously posted to Tumblr on January 29, 2012. The chorus of “Voodoo” interpolates the classic African American spiritual “He’s Got the Whole World in His Hands,” first published in 1927.
Interestingly, the scene from ATL ends with Rashad & New New kissing in a parked car with Aaliyah’s 1994 cover “At Your Best (You Are Love)” playing on the radio. “End” closes out the 2012 channel ORANGE sampling this scene, after which, Ocean would not return with an official release until the 2016 visual album Endless, which opens with the track “At Your Best (You Are Love),” a tribute to Aaliyah.
