When this album came out, Jay was in the middle of a feud with The Diplomats, specifically Jim Jones. Jay-Z would diss the capo on his own track “Ballin” which Jay retitled Brooklyn High. To add fuel to the fire, Jay signed Jim’s nemesis, Tru Life, who had a song called New New York were he signaled the return of New York rap. Tru and Hov both must’ve felt it fell off since Jay retired.
