A reference to Andy Warhol, who is best known for his depictions of Campbell’s Soup cans. Warhol’s pieces are incredibly valuable, sought after by Jay-Z.
Kool AD is addressing the commodification of street art, an art form which was never intended to by commodified. Grafiti and Hip hop must maintain legitimacy amidst the constant cheapening of the art by corporations and other businesses.
For instance: This restaurant is where I live. It comes on my tv way too often. This is what happens when you let the wrong people get a hold of hip hop.
