Nigga with the third album; how come he don't fall off?
This refers to bands and rappers who explode out of the gate with huge albums and immediately skyrocket to the top only to see their fanbase and sales shrink with each progressive albums release (i.e.-falling off.)
This is often referred to as the “Sophomore Album Slump” and has been described as follows: bands are generally signed based off the songs that will appear on their debut album. They have played and honed these songs live for years most likely. However, when it comes time to record follow-ups they have to write all new songs on a deadline. If someone is not a top notch and prolific songwriter, this may contribute to a lackluster Sophomore and even Junior album.
In the case of Ice Cube and this lyric, he completely dodged this problem as The Predator is often considered his greatest and most iconic album.
