Genesis 1:4: And God saw the light, that [it was] good: and God divided the light from the darkness.
from Holy Bible (KJV) – Genesis 1 on Rap Genius
Meaning
God never calls darkness good. By implication, darkness is bad
Pre-electricity, darkness was much scarier, so it’s easy to see why it gets a bad rap
The theme of creation by separation continues through the remainder of this chapter: sky from sea, land from water, day from night. God is establishing order from “formless” chaos.
