Catch My Breath Lyrics
I don't wanna be left behind
Distance was a friend of mine
Catching breath in a web of lies
I've spent most of my life
Riding waves, playing acrobat
Shadowboxing the other half
Learning how to react
I've spent most of my time
[Pre-Chorus]
Catching my breath, letting it go
Turning my cheek for the sake of the show
Now that you know, this is my life
I won't be told what's supposed to be right
[Chorus]
Catch my breath
No one can hold me back, I ain't got time for that
Catch my breath
Won't let 'em get me down, it's all so simple now
[Verse 2]
Addicted to the love I found
Heavy heart, now a weightless cloud
Making time for the ones that count
I'll spend the rest of my time
Laughing hard with the windows down
Leaving footprints all over town
Keeping faith, karma comes around
I will spend the rest of my life
Catching my breath, letting it go
Turning my cheek for the sake of the show
Now that you know, this is my life
I won't be told what's supposed to be right
[Chorus]
Catch my breath
No one can hold me back, I ain't got time for that
Catch my breath
Won't let 'em get me down, it's all so simple now
[Bridge]
You helped me see
The beauty in everything
[Pre-Chorus]
Catching my breath, letting it go
Turning my cheek for the sake of the show
Now that you know, this is my life
I won't be told what's supposed to be right
Catching my breath, letting it go
Turning my cheek for the sake of the show
Now that you know, this is my life
I won't be told what's supposed to be right
(Catch my breath) Catch my breath
No one can hold me back, I ain't got time for that
Catch my breath
Won't let 'em get me down, it's all so simple now
It's all so simple now
[Pre-Chorus]
Catching my breath, letting it go
Turning my cheek for the sake of the show
Now that you know, this is my life
I won't be told what's supposed to be right
[Chorus]
(Catch my breath) Catch my breath
No one can hold me back, I ain't got time for that
Catch my breath (Catch my breath) Catch my breath
Won't let 'em get me down, it's all so simple now
About
After an insane decade long carer, American singer-songwriter, pop-rock icon and Grammy award winning artist Kelly Clarkson returned to start the next decade with the modern and simple “Catch My Breath.”
Lyrically the song serves as a reflection on her career, an appreciation of the things that really matter and a defiant refusal to step down for others like she had to in the past.
The song was released as the lead single from Clarkson’s first greatest hits album.
The song was a modest international success. In the US it peaked at number nineteen and peaked in the top forty in many countries, including Australia, Belgium, Canada, Hungary, the Netherlands, Slovakia and South Korea.

To celebrate the strength and longevity that my fans, friends, and family have supported me with I wrote this song “Catch my Breath” with one of my best friends that has seen me through everything. This song represents who I’ve been, what I’ve felt, and where I’m headed as not only an artist but as a 30 year old that is now smart enough to know that it’s time to stop, catch my breath, and be proud of not only what has been accomplished but of all the people that have helped me become the woman I am today.

Co-writer Eric Olson:
It was a two-week process to get the riff, and then it only took four or five hours to get the music down. Within a day or two, she had the full song written. Kelly was on crutches, so she sang the whole song sitting down. Even her worst takes were amazing – she was in and out in an hour and a half."
