DOOM rock grandma like the kumbaya
Kumbaya was a spiritual/religious song that was popular in the 1930’s, and went on to become a staple at summer camps and in scouting.
The word kumbaya is said to be — kum by ya or “come by here” in the Gullah dialect. With the Folk Music movement in the 60’s the song had a resurrection and if Grandma didn’t sing that with the Saltwater Geechees herself, she sure heard it in the amazing Sixties.
