I used to cut class in the day, then run away at night
But now I'm ruler of the upper class and I don't even write
B.O.B used to be a normal kid, cutting class and being a normal teenager but as he’s grown up hes gotten famous and now tries to take his life seriously.
B.o.B is also commenting on the irony of his success. Back in his youth, he used to skip school and act out, and he was amongst the street youth that the upper class would never bother to notice. Now, thanks to his music, he’s not only on the iPods of the upper class, but he’s richer than some of them, and he doesn’t even write or have the same background as they do, which the upper class would normally frown upon.
