Can we please pour out some liquor
sign of respect in the hood. Even though it is a sign of respect in the hood this act actually has deep roots in traditions. In the ancient times many civilisations like gnostic Greeks and pagan Baltic tribes believed in the necessity of food and drinks sacrifice. Drinks used to be spilled on the ground, this way serving the drinks for the spirits of the dead and the divine Gods. It was believed that act of generosity towards the spiritual world is rewarded by their help and support from above. That kind of ritual alcohol sacrifice survived from the pagan days to this day. The act itself is still done in the hood and in eastern europe countries like Russia. It’s just that nowadays people do it just in the sign of paying your respects. The original meaning of the act was lost in time.
