Manhattan keeps on making it, Brooklyn keeps on taking it
Bronx keeps creating it, and Queens keeps on faking it
These lines explaining the borough’s respective roles — Manhattan as the money-making go-getter, Brooklyn as the home of the stickup kid, Bronx as hip-hop birthplace and Queens as, well, nothing — have become iconic
At least Queens makes the list though. Long Island (home of major groups like Eric B & Rakim, Public Enemy and EPMD) and Staten Island (only really known for the Force MDs at the time) don’t even get a mention.
