Georgetown coach John Thompson made a personal appeal to Edmond to stay away from his players. He built this team into a national power, and now the specter of a D.C. drug dealer in the age of crack, you know, well, that could have destroyed everything.
After Coach Thompson had confirmed that Rayful Edmond was becoming buddy-buddy with a lot of his players he had some of his people send word to Edmond to meet him in his office. Thompson was very kind at first, but then became straightforward and threatened Rayful that if he didn’t stay away from his players there would be consequences. Coach Thompson is known as one of the (if not the only) person to stand up to Rayful Edmond and not receive any threats or actions back.
