Hop’s aggressive and unique style is different from all the other “cookie cutter” rappers today, which makes kids think he’s crazy or a freak.
Hop also isn’t your typical black male, as he will cover in the 3rd verse. He most likely was an “awkward black male” growing up. You get that sense of him not catering to the ole' stereotype of a black male that has been promoted by mainstream Hip Hop artists over the years.
Another factor to be considered is that he was looked at differently due to him being in special education. He was misplaced in special education, not because he was retarded but because he often neglected completing his school work, thinking it was pointless.
Him being a black male wearing blue eye contacts reinforces the “freak of nature” image…
