You keep the sunshine, save me the rain

from Lil Wayne (Ft. Eminem) – Drop the World Lyrics on Rap Genius

Meaning

Here’s his first mention of “you,” whose head he wants to drop the world on. Most likely, this song is directed at all his haters. Instead of singing about them, Lil Wayne decides to be more direct and sing to them, or at them. The effect is powerful and feels personal. And this is the point where he starts to sound crazy. There’s no other rapper who can sound as crazy as Lil Wayne.

You gotta love the way he says “sunshine” (“saynshay”). He says it with maniacal glee, which is the tone he takes through most of this song (as well as his other songs). It becomes obvious here that he’s not complaining about his “pain” — he’s reveling in it. Let his haters have the saynshay; he wants the rain/pain.
