We was racing with Marcus Garvey
On the freeway to Africa
Marcus Garvey was a prolific Jamaican participant in Pan-Africanism and Black Nationalism. He influenced the Rastafarian movement in Jamaica. Pan-Africanism is a movement which seeks to unify African people into a “one African community” and often seeks to have persons move back to the continent itself. He also founded the Universal Negro Improvement Association and African Communities League. As soon as Garvey became a big enough problem for the government they had him deported to his homeland of Jamaica and essentially silenced him.
