Or Kurt Cobain
Loaded that clip and then said bang, the drama it bring is crazy
Did the lead singer of Nirvana commit suicide because of drugs? Kendrick thinks our capitalist society, the music industry to be more specific, drove him to it. .
Kendrick uses onomatopoeia and alliteration with the ending of Kurt Cobain’s last name and the word “bang” he uses in the next line.
(Note that Cobain killed himself with a shotgun; non-military shotties don’t actually have clips.)
In Cobain’s suicide note, he mentions how the music industry sucks the joy and meaning out of the artists music:
*All the warnings from the punk rock 101 courses over the years, since my first introduction to the, shall we say, the ethics involved with independence and the embracement of your community has proven to be very true. I haven’t felt the excitement of listening to as well as creating music along with reading and writing for too many years now. I feel guilty beyond words about these things.
The sacrifices the music industry demands from the artist take a toll, and the only way to stay sane, is to remove yourself, either through a Lauryn Hill-style imposed isolation, or the ultimate Cobain-style removal; the Hemingway Solution. .
