It's the year of the silkworm
Everything I built burned yesterday
A silkworm builds a capsule around itself, and then breaks it to become a moth.
The process of extracting silk from the cocoon of a silkworm is performed by boiling the worm while it is inside and then unraveling the thread. The silkworm is literally burned alive while it’s silk is harvested.
The silkworm is a metaphor for those of us in the working populous, our lives are slowly taken away from us and we sacrifice our lives just so that someone with more power than us can benefit from our sacrifices. The workers are used by their employers just like the silkworms who produce silk that humans take advantage of.
