The maids come around too much
Parents ain’t around enough
Frank discusses how wealthy families can be less intimate and more detached. The parents are so busy that their maid is more present and involved in raising the children.
This is played for humour by exasperatingly complaining that the maids are around too much (who complains about someone else doing all the work?).
Maids in hotels (and live-in maids) can be called to a room to clean up with just a phone call. When ‘the maids come around too much’, it could mean that the room is always dirty and turned upside down. Perhaps there is always a party that ends up rowdy and leaves the room messy.
